Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 28, 2026

Your privacy matters. This page explains, in plain language, what information NV collects, how we use it, and the controls you have over it.

1. Who we are

NV Messenger (“NV”, “we”, “our”) is a private communication app that lets you send messages, share moments, and make voice and video calls. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

2. Information we collect

We collect only the information needed to run NV. This includes: • Account data: your phone number, name, profile photo and optional username, bio and date of birth. • Messages and media: the messages, photos, videos, voice notes and files you send are stored on our servers only for delivery, and removed once delivered to all recipients (or after a short retention window for offline devices). • Contacts: if you grant permission, NV uploads phone numbers from your address book in a hashed form so we can show which of your contacts are on NV. Names are never uploaded. • Device information: device model, OS version, app version, push token and language. We use this to deliver notifications and improve stability. • Location: shared only when you explicitly attach your location to a chat or open the Nearby feature. We do not track location in the background. • Logs and diagnostics: anonymous error reports and basic usage events so we can detect crashes and improve quality.

3. How we use information

We use the information we collect to: • Deliver your messages, calls and stories to the people you choose. • Authenticate your account and prevent abuse, spam and fraud. • Send service notifications (new messages, call invites). • Improve performance, fix bugs and develop new features. • Comply with applicable law. We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your messages for advertising.

4. Sharing of information

We share information only in these limited cases: • Service providers: cloud hosting, push notification gateways (Apple, Google), and analytics that help us operate NV. These providers act on our behalf and are bound by confidentiality. • Legal requests: when required by law, court order or to protect the safety of our users and the public. • With your consent: when you choose to share content with another person or group.

5. Data retention

Account data is retained while your account is active. Messages and media are stored on our servers only until they are delivered to all recipients, then removed. Diagnostic logs are retained for up to 90 days. You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Security → Delete Account, which permanently removes your profile and message history from our servers.

6. Security

We protect your information using industry-standard safeguards including transport encryption (TLS), secure credential storage on your device, optional Face ID / fingerprint app lock, and limited employee access on a need-to-know basis. No system is perfectly secure; please use a strong device passcode and keep the app up to date.

7. Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export your personal data, and to object to certain uses. You can exercise most of these directly inside NV (Settings → Privacy and Settings → Security). For any other request, write to us at support@thenv.org.

8. Children

NV is not directed to children under 13. If you are under the age required by your country to consent to data processing (16 in most of the EU), please do not use NV without parental consent. If we learn that we have collected data from a child without proper consent, we will delete it.

9. International transfers

Your information may be stored and processed in countries other than the one where you live. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) to protect your data when it moves across borders.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you inside the app or by other reasonable means before they take effect. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page tells you when the policy was last revised.

11. Contact us

If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy or how we handle your data, please write to us at support@thenv.org.
